Computer question inside. Here’s a sketch I just did while trying to figure out what the problem is. Mentioned it
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
on Monday
. I can usually figure out how to fix shit, but this one’s stumping me. Maybe someone here knows something I don’t.
Ok, so my Surface Book 2 has started blinking the screen while I sketch in Photoshop. I’ll try to record a video of it, if you’re interested. All my shit’s paid, so I’m not working on some janky hack version of anything. This is a new problem. I thought at first it was just the SB’s screen brightness adjustment, but I’ve turned that off and on with no difference.
Then I tried turning off hardware acceleration in PS, based on some Adobe forum squawks, and that hasn’t helped, either. I’m starting to think that it’s a bluetooth-related thing with the stylus.
I’m just at a loss, here. When things that work just stop working for no discernible reason, it starts making me crazy.
Anyway, any insight is appreciated. I know y’all have some smarts. Show me some insight.

Curious, does this issue happen persist whether it’s plugged in or not? Maybe a hardware/power issue.
Also, I’m assuming you’ve taken steps to update graphics drivers, etc.?
I did a quick search and it looks like there are a lot of articles and posts about the screen flickering.

I used a Surface Pro 3 for a long time, and the connection between screen and power supply
failed on that. That’s what makes me so nervous. The SP3 was great, until the screen just stopped working until it was plugged in, then it just stopped working altogether. It’ll still run
, but no display.
That’s why I’m pretty freaked out about the flickering in PS on the SB2. I mean, I expect everything to fail. But the SB2 has been such a perfect machine, and it’s only 2 years old. I’m concerned about hearing some weird noises while doing Solidworks, this last week, and the flickering while sketching (and only sketching, not using mouse input for other stuff) has me pretty weirded out. I can’t tell if it’s Photoshop, the stylus, some weird change in the OS, or what. Everything I use is up to date. That’s sort of the problem.

Only other thing I can think of: did you have restore points setup on it?
I’d try to backup the important files and then try a restore point - sometimes updates break things for whatever reason, and at the very least if you restore to an earlier point where you do not recall the screen flickering and that solves the issue, then we know it’s a software/driver issue and then you can manually install updates/drivers one by one and see if the issue arises again.
This is the only thing I can think of off the top of my head. I can’t say anything about the hardware since I’m not familiar with it.

Yeah, I’ve been backing up all the local files. The SB2 has been a dream machine, for the most part. There have been hiccups with Win10 updates, mostly in the first half of 2018,
but we got over them. Most of my stuff is stored on my server, now, and all of my work is off the machine.
It’s just a super-weird, just out-of-nowhere fuckup. I’ve had so many issues with styluses, whether Wacom or bluetooth like this one, and when things that worked forever just stop working, it makes me crazy. I pay a lot of money for the both hardware and software, and when they just suddenly stop working right, I just don’t know what to do with that. But I still have work to do, and I have to jump over extra hurdles.

No idea about the computer issue, but the sketch looks great!
I sent you a DM on IG. Feel free to ask away your naval engineering/architecture questions.

You did? I didn’t get it for whatever reason. Email me at ryan at lrg

This is nice. The 981 is pretty great, but the 987's rear end and haunches have it beat by a mile. How low the rear drops between the tail lights is just as sexy as how low the front drops between the headlights on a long
hood 911.

My main machine is Win10 as well, and I just accept that sometimes shit stops working and also sometimes starts working again, all with no discernible cause.
Hopefully you can get it fixed, but given how slow System Restore can be, you’ll have to find a day or two where you won’t need to use the machine to see if that even does anything.

Thanks. For some reason I threw a 930-style tail on a 987-sized thing, mostly just trying to figure out why the screen is flickering. It’s driving me crazy.

Tremendously frustrating.
